Erectile dysfunction medicines seized in Glengormley

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health authorities during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A male was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently impotence medications via the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be hazardous.

"These types of items being offered, generally online, have undergone no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their safety.

"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not understand the result drugs like this may have on your health."
